Express Jet Airlines

In December I left SeaPort Airlines in Memphis, Tennessee and began a new career with Express Jet Airlines. Express Jet is a large regional carrier who operates flights as Delta Connection, United Express, and American Eagle. We operate several different types of aircraft: the CRJ-200, 700, & 900, and the Embraer 135/145. With nearly 2,200 daily departures to almost 200 airports in the United States, the Caribbean, Canada, and Mexico, we are anything but a small airline. If you have ever flown on a regional jet, there is a good chance you have been flown by Express Jet. (ExpressJet.com)

I was hired into the CRJ-200, the same type of plane I flew for Endeavor (formerly Pinnacle) Airlines.

Training was located in Atlanta, Georgia, the company headquarters. It was here where I finally received my Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate, the PhD of aviation. On the CRJ we have four pilot bases: Atlanta, Detroit, Washington Dulles, and Dallas Fort Worth. Atlanta and Detroit are Delta Connection operations; Washington Dulles is United Express; and Dallas is American Eagle. Your particular location is assigned on a need be basis and is decided based on seniority. I was initially assigned Washington Dulles as my base. Although not my first choice, Dulles has been a positive experience. I work with good crews and go to some neat places, all while doing what I love most - flying.

I will soon be posting some pictures and experiences I have had while flying out of Dulles.

Where in the world?

I may eventually figure this blogging thing out and begin to regularly update.  So where in the world have I been?

Back in Memphis.  A depressing thought after my previous experience here, however, I am quite pleased at my current place of employment: SeaPort Airlines, where I am a captain.

SeaPort came about in Portland, OR where they initially served Seattle, WA (hence the name, Sea(ttle)Port(land)).  We are headquartered in Portland and currently have bases in Portland, Memphis, and San Diego.  We operate Pilatus PC-12s and Cessna Caravans on a wide variety of Essential Air Service (EAS) routes.  EAS routes are government funded and serve to provide air service to smaller cities.  Feel free to check us out online: seaportair.com, or on Facebook.

I am thoroughly enjoying being closer to Chicago and Tulsa for more frequent visits with Natalie and my family.

Thanks for reading!  I will try to do a better job to update and provide pictures and stories from the flight line.
